ISO 17021 Conformity Assessment standards for the functioning of various types of bodies performing certification were created. Accreditation of certification bodies is a process by which an accreditation body formally recognizes technical competence for specific types of certifications such as ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and so on, based on the third-party assessment by the ISO 17021 standard. This international standard has been written in compliance with the Directives' rules. Accreditation bodies are in charge of ISO 17021 certification. The certifying body receives global approval as a result of reciprocal accreditation by ISO 17021 standard.
